During the MRI

  • What the Scan is Like
An MRI uses a powerful magnetic field and radio waves to take detailed images of your body—completely pain-free and non-invasive.

Typical Experience:

  • You’ll lie on a padded table that slides into the MRI scanner.
  • You must remain very still to get clear images.
  • The machine makes loud tapping or thumping sounds—earplugs or headphones will be provided.
  • Most scans take 20–45 minutes, depending on the area being examined.
  • If contrast dye is needed, it will be explained and administered by our staff.

Feeling Anxious or Claustrophobic?

  • Let us know ahead of time. We offer open MRI options and comfort measures, and we’ll take the time to support you throughout the scan.

After the MRI

  • You’re Free to Go
  • Most patients can resume normal activities right away.

Results

  • Your images will be reviewed by a board-certified radiologist. We’ll send the report to your referring provider within 24–48 hours, who will then discuss the findings with you.
